The Henderson Group offers these services, emphasizing IBM mainframe computers, using z/OS and the MVS system software:
In-House Classes Tailored to Your Needs
We will bring all our classes to you, taught at your location by our instructors.
This saves you travel time and expense, reduces training costs, and lets you address sensitive issues in the privacy
of your own classroom. Your staff gets trained, but can still get immediate work done in the office.
Many organizations have found this an ideal way to get training tailored to their own requirements
while saving money.
We have special, discounted rates for ISACA chapters too. Contact Stu at (301) 229-7187
or stu@stuhenderson.com to learn about availability
and pricing.

How to Save Money When We Hold a Class in Your City
You can save money in at least two ways:
- If you have more than six students who want to take the same class, you
can save money with our flat-rate, in-house pricing. The more students in the
class, the more you save. You can invite students from other companies to
increase your savings. With a few phone calls to near-by companies, your RACF
user group, your ISACA or ISSA chapter, and a little help from your training
department, you can find more students to save even more.
- If we hold a public session of a class in your city, and you provide the
training room, then you get one free seat in the seminar in exchange. This is
a great way to get training at literally no cost.

Mainframe Security Reviews and Audits
When you need to know how good your mainframe security is, and to be able to demonstrate this to others, we provide comprehensive MVS and z/OS security reviews. These reviews provide you with detailed, technical assessments of your mainframe operating system security, your security software (whether RACF, ACF2, or TopSecret), and your mainframe networks (both SNA and TCP/IP). Our consultants are experienced system programmers and security officers who understand both the technical issues and the organizational issues involved. Our recommendations are always practical and useful.
We help you demonstrate compliance with regulations. We also help you know the strengths and weaknesses of your mainframe security and specific steps to improve it.
Our recommendations often result in simplification of security administration and review, and also in cost savings from reduced administrative time and effort, reduced user time and effort, and reduced hardware and software costs.

Information Security Training
Our seminars on RACF and mainframe security provide you with a clear understanding of how the security works, how to administer it, how to maintain and tune it. The class workbooks are valuable reference manuals. We offer the seminars nation-wide in public settings and in-house. Mainframe Data Security officers, security administrators, and system programmers consistently rate our seminars Excellent.
Our three best-selling RACF seminars are:
- HG04: Effective RACF often called "Everything you could want to know about RACF
without being a system programmer"
- HG05: Advanced RACF which adds the technical knowledge for advanced
administrators and system programmers
- HG06:
UNIX FOR RACF ADMINS which shows administrators how to understand UNIX security and to administer it on the
mainframe with RACF

IT Audit Training
IT auditors say repeatedly that our seminars make mainframe security easy to understand. These classes provide clear explanations of how to plan, scope, organize, and execute mainframe audits, including how the security works, what data to gather and how to gather it, how to interpret it, how to write the report, how to conduct the closing meeting, and how to follow up. These classes are intensive and interesting. They give you a deep technical understanding, as well as proven techniques for dealing with organizational issues.
Our two most popular audit classes are:
-
HG64:How to Audit MVS, RACF, ACF2, Top Secret, CICS, DB2, and
MQ Series Security which shows you in a clear, comprehensive fashion how to audit mainframe security
-
HG65:How to Audit z/OS with USS, TCP/IP, FTP, and the Internet which builds on the previous seminar to show you how to audit mainframe UNIX and Internet connections
The workbooks for these seminars include complete audit programs, and serve as a valuable technical reference.
